Chris and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary next month (Nov. 8th) and are headed to Bora Bora next week to celebrate. Years ago we put a pin in the destination for our 10 year, and I can't believe it's almost here! We don't have much scheduled besides a couple's massage, lounging in our hut over the water (gah!) and snorkeling--so if you've ever been to Bora Bora, we'd love your recommendations! And we'll be sure to report back on our favorite things, too.
More fun things this week!
• Forever ago, I put together a post about my favorite video and photo editing apps here (along with the presets I like). But I need to go back and add the free Lightroom app. I've always been fearful and a little intimidated about my desktop Lightroom (I need someone to sit down with me for 15 minutes and show me around!), but the free app seems easy and intuitive. I purchased the burtsbrisplease preset and love the warm tones. I also recently upgraded my phone to the iPhone Xs Max and the camera is incredible. To be honest, I've been using it in place of my big canon recently for convenience sake and it has really kept up. Here's a couple photos I took this week with it:
Both edited with that preset I mentioned, although I generally adjust the lighting, shadows and warmth a bit. Any other favorite presets for lightroom I should check out?
• Almost anytime I share photos of my home, I get comments about how clean it is and questions about how is that possible with kids. First, I look at having a clean house as kind of part of my job, it's important that it looks photo ready and tidy almost always. My house=my job. So it's is a good thing cleaning is also my favorite kind of therapy. But also, we're a normal family with normal morning rushes and dirty dishes and kids who leave their backpacks in the middle of the living room. Imagine my delight when I discovered "Clean With Me" videos on YouTube. I generally like to tidy before bed and do a quick deeper clean Saturday mornings. I thought it would be fun to do our own Clean With Me Video--this is usually my Saturday routine in our main area. (It took me about an hour in real time).
• Have you dug through H&M's home stuff lately (or ever?). They have so many beautiful and really affordable options like The most perfect fall tablecloth or this shower curtain that would be so cute in a kid's bathroom or this fluffy 20x20 pillow cover that's under $30!
• We finished Making a Murderer season 2 this week (could. not. stop. watching.) and thoroughly agree with all of this.
• I love this entirely too much.
• Lastly, This weekend all domestic Propertee orders ship free with code SHIPFREE at checkout! (In case you missed it, we launched Homebody V-necks). Here, Chris and I are both wearing our Indoorsy sweatshirts, per usual. (Me in a medium, for a roomy fit, and Chris is wearing a large.) We'll also be launching Homebody mugs this weekend so keep your eyes peeled!
Omg, my husband and I have always said we wanted to go to Bora Bora for our 10 year anniversary! We are still about 3.5 years away, so I can’t wait to hear all about your trip!
No ‘love thy neighborhood’ shirts? I would love to buy that one! I love my ‘homebody’ shirt!
They're coming!
Bora Bora is amazing! We went there for our honeymoon and I hope to go back some day. The pictures don’t do it justice! Bring lots of sunscreen the sun is no joke there. We did the helicopter tour, in addition to the things you listed, it was beautiful to see the island from above! We went to the mainland for dinner at Bloody Marys one night which was cool, you get to pick out your fresh caught seafood for dinner right when you walk in, yum! Bringing a GoPro to document was awesome for all the adventures. My husband made a video of our honeymoon, we went to a few different islands. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/i8IBzcAy_qQ
Bora Bora is a slice of heaven on earth! We did our 15 year anni there 3 yrs ago. Same thing, massages, overwater hut and enjoying no kids. I did get a black pearl as a souvenir. Definitely get off your motu and hike on the mainland. Bring all the books!! You will not want to leave. Enjoy! We talk often of when we can go back.
So refreshing to see you using a dish drying rack! I always try to finish all my dishes so I can hide it away, because it is just such an ugly thing to me...most of the time it is out on the counter, though. The reality of having kids and a life I guess, I'm sure we all know it. It's my goal to one day either use only a drying mat, or to get a way nicer over the sink rack than my current one from Target.
Where do you keep yours when you're not using it?
Happy Anniversary in advance, travel safe and I hope you guys have a blast!
I store it under the sink when it's not in use. I agree it's an eyesore, but necessary
I store mine in the dishwasher if there’s room.
We honeymooned in bora bora 11 years ago. Definitely go to Bloody Marys! The menu is amazing, sand floors and the most amazing bathroom ever. Pineapple tour is fun. Biking around the island is a must, we borrowed bikes from our resort. We stayed on Moorea too, which is equally as lovely. Happy anniversary and enjoy!
Link for preset just goes to her instagram but she has no link on her insta.
Do you have link to purchase preset??
Thanks!
I sent her a DM about it but it looks like she stopped selling it! I don't know why!!! :( I'll try to search for a good dupe.
We’re you able to find another preset similar to the burtsbrisplease one? I notice she does have a bunch of presets on her website again, but not sure if the one you use is listed there?
Yes! She started selling it again!
I own a mobile preset shop! Boss Babe Presets! I offer lots of different aesthetics. My Brilliant Babe is similar in tone to burtsbrisplease (I know she doesn’t sell hers any longer). ???????? Linking below incase anyone is interested!

Ah! My wedding anniversary is on November 8th too! Only 3 years for us though. ????
Have a fantastic time in Bora Bora! It is so, so beautiful. My husband and I honeymooned there in 2012. We visited three islands but spent the most time on Bora Bora. We did a Polynesian dinner at our resort (the Intercontinental) one night, had dinner on the beach at the resort another night, and went to the Bora Bora Yacht Club a third night. I don't remember the other dinner locations though. We also rode bikes around the island one day. Another day we got massages and then enjoyed the rest of the spa amenities (most of which were outdoors which was so different from any other spa to which I had been, but it was so fabulous). Otherwise, we relaxed, kayaked, and just enjoyed the heck out of our over-water bungalow. I can't wait to go back and I can't wait to see your photos and hear about what you did. Enjoy and Happy Anniversary!
We’re soon to be remodeling our bathroom. Do you have any suggestions on mood board/space design apps to use to put our ideas into and see the different elements together? Thanks so much!
I use Photoshop/Illustrator, but actually a pinterest board can be amazing!
This picture reminds me you guys used a wood-look tile here. You went with hardwood at the cabin. Can you take me through your thought process as to why each went into each location? Thanks!
Happy Anniversary! My husband and I honeymooned in Bora Bora. We are celebrating 11 years tomorrow!! Not sure if it is still there, but we are at a restaurant called Bloody Mary’s. Really good food. Other than that, we hung out on our ah deck, snorkeled and swam with sharks and sting rays. Enjoy your trip! It’s truly a magical place.
HM home is the best! Some of my favorite home items are from there!
