Hallelujah, the dishwashers arrived last week!! We had them installed on Friday and I can't believe we have been without a dishwasher since moving in 10 months ago. I honestly didn't realize how much of my time was spent doing dishes every day until now. It was at least an hour a day. I got used to it and I even didn't mind it, but over the weekend, I realized how much free time I suddenly have after dinner! Ha! I get asked a lot "Why two dishwashers?" And here's the thing, dishwashers are a luxury that have become pretty commonplace, and although one dishwasher would have served us well, we honestly had the space for two, so why not? With Chris cooking 99% of all of our meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and all the hosting we like to do, they're going to get plenty of use. We've only had them for a few days and I have already loaded up both, just for our family! So grateful to finally have them. My favorite part? You barely notice they are there. I mean, can you spot them?
Dishwasher | Pendants | Candle | Soap | Faucet | Vase | Peach Stems | Bay Leaf Stems | Serve Board
They're on either side of the sink, of course! The beautiful cabinet fronts are all custom designed by Stoffer Home Cabinetry, and they disguised these dishwashers so much, that even I have difficulty spotting them. It looks like there's a drawer over a cupboard (designed to match the garbage pull out with a narrow drawer above it at the forefront of the photo), but it's all just one front, and the top handle, pulls the dishwasher open! So sexy and sleek. Both dishwashers are the Cove, Sub-Zero Wolf brand (which is also the same as our other appliances). We did hear really great things about this dishwasher! In our last house we had a Bosch dishwasher which we really liked! It had a cabinet front, and was so quiet that the only way to tell if it was running was by seeing the signal light on the bottom, lighting up the floor. These dishwashers have all of that, and more. My life has completely transformed in just a few days!
Along with the sneaky cabinet fronts, and these dishwashers being SO quiet, they somehow feel more spacious than a standard dishwasher. There's three adjustable racks, so I've been playing around with the best heights for us. In the dishwasher to the right of the sink, I use the top rack for serving utensils, measuring cups, things like that. I moved the second rack up, so it can still hold glasses and bowls, but it leaves more space on the bottom for pots, pans, cutting boards, and serving platters!
Don't you love how the inside lights up when it's opened?! In the second dishwasher, I lowered the second rack down so I can fit our taller water bottles and Stanley cups, leaving plenty of space below for all the plates! Honestly I thought we would only use both dishwashers on occasion, but it hasn't even been a week and we've used them both plenty!
One side not is that these dishwashers have WiFi. I haven't used that function yet (still flipping through the manual), but I'm guessing there must be some sort of app that you could start them from a distance. They're so quiet that I just turn them on at the end of the day and I don't hear a thing!
Cabinet Hardware is fabulous! Info and links PLEASE!
Love~Love your kitchen design!! How many bay leaves did you purchase for the vase with peach stems? I am trying to duplicate that same look for a refresh in my kitchen!!
There are two in there!!
Those look amazing! You'd never know there was a dishwasher there....let alone two ♥
I thought I had done all my appliance research on our recently completed new built. We went with GE Monogram and it has been the absolute worse decision ever. They'll be replaced much sooner than anticipated and I'll definitely be going with Wolf.
Washing dishes in the dishwasher is much more water efficient than doing them by hand so having one (or two) is not just about ease and luxury.
that whole honkin' big sink / dishwasher setup is a dream!
Two dishwashers also means if you haven't had a chance to unload one, you can begin loading the second one and not have to start a pile in the sink! If you have the space, why not? Would love a future post where Chris walks us through how he has everything organized and why (would love to know where you keep your big pots), what's working well and anything he would change.
So jealous! 2 is a dream. We end up with drying mats all over our kitchen for the things that can't fit or can't go in the dishwasher. Curious what you use for those items? Is the rack that comes with the sink enough or do you use drying mats also?
So beautiful! I would love to have two dishwashers! Random question for you - where do you set things to dry? Thank you for sharing!
we just use the drying rack in the sink. If we need overflow, I just lay out a drying mat on the counter.
So beautiful! I love the idea of two hidden dishwashers. So pretty and functional. I do have a question about the open nook where you have cutting boards. Is it a painted finish or melamine? We are doing an open section of cabinets and I’m worried about scratches and dings if the interior is painted. Just wondering about your experience. Thank you!
It's factory grade paint, so it feels like a hard enamel.
I never put my pots or pans in the dishwasher, it's a sure way to ruin them.
Eh, some pots and pans we do, some we don't.
Beautiful! Where's your paper towel holder? That's the one that always gets me...
We actually don't have one. I keep paper towels under the sink
I've never seen dishwashers with light inside! Wow!
But my most favourite thing about this post ist how you answered another of these obnoxious "why did you do xyz?" with a "why not?" or "because we can!"
That's the right attitude and I love it :)
