Since we planned to add built-ins and pocket doors to the study, I had my heart set on finding some vintage, wooden french doors to use. So I spent probably ten days going down that route, searching at a massive salvage yard, Etsy, First Dibs, Chairish, and Facebook Marketplace. At one point, I had about 100 browser tabs open, hoping to stumble upon exactly what I wanted.
Spoiler alert, I didn't have such luck.
Finding not only one but two vintage doors in precise dimensions proved nearly impossible and consumed too much time. Our contractors were incredibly patient but could do nothing until we knew which doors they would work with. So I evaluated the priorities of this project, and while a set of vintage doors would be stunning, to me, the star of the show lies beyond the doors!
The moment I let go of my vintage door vision, I had the epiphany to match our custom-made pantry doors. Duh. And since our contractors ordered the pantry doors, they were able to have a pair of custom walnut doors with peekaboo glass made for us.
And aren't they stunning?? Being able to close these doors when I'm in a meeting or going Live on Good Influence(r) will be life-changing. Also, the study is Cricket's favorite place to have an accident, so we'll keep the doors closed until she's fully trained.
Next-up:Â repainting the study.
